The Student and Industry Resource Center (SIRC) for The School of Hospitality Business coordinates all recruiting and career services for hospitality business students. SIRC can help you:

  • Identify and structure internships
  • Arrange for on-campus recruiting and information sessions
  • Facilitate online recruiting through our Job Alert Bulletin (JAB)
  • Schedule industry speakers from your company in hospitality classes

MSU School of Packaging

Internship Program and Employment

The internship program in Packaging at MSU is one of the largest on campus, and in our industry.  Program details:   Students are in their junior or senior year and intern pay averages $18/hour. Positions are usually offered in six-month blocks, June-December and January-June, although some positions will extend into August.  Summer-only hires are possible.

Students do full-time internships, usually over summer, yet can occur over school year.  Usually paid, and by the company.  Some students will volunteer.

Regional Programs

Intern in Michigan

Intern in Michigan is a statewide, coordinated effort engaging key partners including the Detroit Regional Chamber, West Michigan Strategic Alliance, Presidents Council, State Universities of Michigan, Mid-Michigan Innovation Team, and a grant from Workforce Innovations in Regional Economic Development.  The goal is to place 25,000 Michigan college students in Michigan-based internships by year five of the project.

Intern in Michigan matches students and intern opportunities. Students can post resumes, search for internships, and access lifestyle resources in communities where opportunities are offered. Prospective employers can post job openings, view resumes, and access resources about the benefits and challenges of providing a good internship experience.
